Dreambert and Bedsmith, two Pi’illo species, wake up one morning with no memory of who they are, where they are, or how they got there. They find themselves in a strange house in a strange town, feeling lost and confused. Just as panic sets in, a strange man named Wonky appears, claiming to be their father. He suggests that they must have passed out while watching television the night before, but before he can explain any further, the situation takes a turn for the worse. A Star Sprite species named Starlow arrives, claiming to be their friend. He says they had plans to hang out, but Dreambert and Bedsmith have no memory of him or any such plans. Reluctantly, they follow Starlow out, unsure of their surroundings. They wander through the town, appearing as if they don’t recognize the surroundings or Starlow. Despite his confusion, Starlow continues to interact with them as if they have been friends for a long time. As he introduces them to his surroundings, Starlow patiently explains their supposed friendship and their names, trying to calm them down. However, Dreambert and Bedsmith are still confused and unable to understand their past or their connection to Starlow. As the day progresses, Starlow becomes more concerned and initially thinks they are just pretending to forget. But as their strange behavior continues, he begins to worry that there is something seriously wrong with their memories. By the end of the day, Starlow’s uncertainty deepens, and he wonders if there is something else behind their forgetfulness. Dreambert and Bedsmith are sent back to the house where they first woke up, and Wonky, who claims to still be their father, offers them an unfamiliar bed. Too tired and confused to protest, they settle in for the night. As they fall asleep, their minds are filled with questions about their identities, their pasts, and the cause of their sudden amnesia. The mystery of their lost memories remains unanswered as they drift off to a peaceful sleep, uncertain of the future.
