Dreambert and Bedsmith, two creatures of the Pi’illo species, wake up one morning with no memory of who they are, where they are, or how they got there. They find themselves in a strange house in an unfamiliar town, feeling lost and confused. Just as panic sets in, a peculiar man named Wonky appears, claiming to be their father. He suggests that they must have passed out while watching TV the night before, but before he can explain further, the situation gets even stranger. A creature named Starlow, of the Star Sprite species, arrives, insisting that she is a friend of theirs. She says that they had plans to hang out, but Dreambert and Bedsmith have no memory of her or any such plans. Reluctantly, they follow Starlow outside, unsure of their surroundings. They wander around the town, acting as if they recognize neither the surroundings nor Starlow. Despite her confusion, Starlow continues to interact with them as if they were longtime friends. As she shows them around, Starlow patiently explains their supposed friendship and their names, trying to put them at ease. Dreambert and Bedsmith, however, remain disoriented and unable to make sense of their past or their connection to Starlow. As the day progresses, Starlow grows more concerned, and at first thinks they are just pretending to forget. But as their strange behavior persists, she begins to worry that something is seriously wrong with her memories. By the end of the day, Starlow’s uncertainty deepens, and she wonders if there is something more behind her forgetfulness. Dreambert and Bedsmith are sent back to the house where they first woke up, and are provided with a bed that feels unfamiliar to them by Wonky, still claiming to be their father. Too tired and confused to protest, they settle in for the night. As they drift off to sleep, their minds are filled with questions about their identities, their past, and the cause of their sudden amnesia. The mystery of their lost memories looms unanswered as they drift into a restless sleep, unsure of what the future holds.
